Adriana and Roland’s love story began long before either of them realized it. Both grew up in Miami, where fate quietly wove their lives together. When Roland’s uncle moved into the house behind Adriana’s parents, their families became close, and soon their paths began to cross. At backyard gatherings, holiday parties, and family celebrations. For years, they were simply two familiar faces moving in the same circles. But destiny had other plans.

It wasn’t until New Orleans brought them back into each other’s lives that everything changed. Roland had already been living there for four years when Adriana moved to begin law school. Alone in a new city, Adriana found in Roland a glimpse of home and a protector. He invited her into his world, whether it was dinners with friends, carefree nights out, or quiet evenings watching movies. He made sure she was safe, cared for, and never truly alone. But love, as it often does, asked them to be patient. Roland’s Global MBA took him abroad to Paris and Munich for nearly a year. Even across continents and time zones, their bond only grew stronger. They prayed for one another, shared laughter and inside jokes over late-night Facetimes, and proved that distance could never dim what they had found.

When Roland returned to the States, he chose one of Adriana’s favorite cities, Nashville, to take the next step. On a rooftop along Broadway, beneath the lights and music, he asked her to be his girlfriend. In that moment, their friendship became the love story it was always meant to be.

The months and years that followed were filled with long-distance letters, airport hellos and goodbyes, and countless adventures whenever they could be together. From Mardi Gras parades to Pelicans games, from exploring New Orleans restaurants to quiet nights in, they cherished every second. Their love carried them through graduate school, long distance, and all the challenges and adventures of adulthood.

After Adriana graduated from law school and completed the bar exam, the two celebrated the end of the distance with a trip to Portugal. At Cabo da Roca, standing at the edge of the world, where the land meets the sea, Roland asked Adriana to spend forever with him. It was the easiest “yes” she had ever spoken.
